1 million coffee pods recycled in successful Chichester trial scheme

Chichester District Council has thanked residents for helping make their trial run of the scheme a success.

More than 1 million used coffee pods have now been recycled during the first year of the council's free kerbside collection trial scheme.

The trial covers around 75% of households in Chichester District and began in July 2021.

The aim of the scheme, run in collaboration with Podback, is to make recycling at home even easier.

After reaching the significant 1 million milestone, the council has now confirmed that it is in the process of reviewing collection rounds with the aim of increasing the availability of the service.

Residents can sign up to the free coffee pod collection service online, receiving kerbside recycling bags which are then collected, and recycled, by the council.

A wide range of different coffee, hot chocolate and tea drink pods are collected as part of the service.

Aluminium and plastic pods from the following brands are all recyclable: Nespresso, Nescafé Dolce Gusto, Starbucks by Nespresso, Starbucks by Nescafé Dolce Gusto, Tassimo, L'OR, CruKafe, Artisan Coffee Co, Allpress Espresso, Colonna Coffee and Café Palmieri by Jomad Coffee.
