Ross Fisher is rowing from London to Felpham to raise funds for Chestnut Tree House.

A Felpham man embarks on his 300km rowing challenge today in aid of Chestnut Tree House.

Ross Fisher, aged 75, is travelling from Big Ben, in London, to his hometown of Felpham.

The solo journey is expected to take around seven days, depending on weather conditions, with Ross travelling on his 60-year-old fishing boat.

The challenge is the final part of a series of rowing journeys which the determined grandfather has taken on, having previously travelled from

Chichester Harbour to Felpham Sailing Club and Felpham to the Isle of Wight.

This is the biggest of his three adventures, however Ross feels motivated by the knowledge that he is raising much-needed funds for Chestnut Tree House.

The experienced rower explained how he will be travelling with only his radio for company and his family to track his progress.

He described an empowering moment from his last adventure:

“When I did my last rowing challenge, one of the nicest moments was when I got back to the sailing club about nine o’clock at night and the whole promenade was packed. The cheering started at the other end of Bognor!”

The trip will take him past many iconic London locations including the Millennium Dome, Battersea Power Station, and the Houses of Parliament.

So far Ross has raised just over £1,700 on his first day with a target of £5,000.
