Artist chosen to help Bognor Regis' youth envision future of town centre

Artist Lewis has worked with young people across the country since 2006

An artist has been chosen to help Bognor Regis' youth envision the future of their town centre.

Pioneering an exhibition called "Our Town", photography artist and facilitator Lewis will be working with local young people to paint a picture of what Bognor's town could look like. Commissioned by Artswork, the display will combine art and photography and is set to launch tomorrow at The Pop! Space.

With his appointment supported by year 8 and 12 art students at Felpham Community College, Lewis said: "I am very excited to be part of this project and to be working with the young people in Bognor and I am hoping that I can inspire them as much as I know they are going to inspire me."

Bognor Regis Bid Co-Ordinator Heather Allen described the need for everyone's voices to be heard in the "discussions around town centres" and "how they need to adapt and respond to stay vital."

She continued, "This is a fantastic opportunity to raise the volume of young people’s voices in those conversations, which is why the BID was so keen to work with Artswork to develop this project."

The exhibition is set to take place between the 21st and 29th of October and hopes to put "the ideas and creativity of local children and young people right at the heart of thinking about Bognor Regis’s redevelopment."
