A Bognor Regis robber has been jailed for four years after threatening staff in three different shops with a knife.

Michael Richard Jones was sentenced following offences which took place in June and July this year in a Premier store, Grande Wines and Summerley Lane's Post Office. The 28-year-old was caught after CCTV was handed over by both the Post Office and St Mary's Centre, which became a key part of uncovering Jones' identity.

With his arrest having taken place on the 15th of August, Jones was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on the 11th of October. Investigating officer Detective Constable Louise Clark has since commended "the bravery of the victims involved" and expressed gratitude to "everyone who has assisted in our investigation to bring Jones to justice.

Describing the events, Clark said: "On each occasion, Jones entered the store armed with a knife and demanded cash from the tills, which he took before making off on foot.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt. But nevertheless, these employees were put in fear of violence at their place of work, where they should feel safe to go about their daily business."
