Bognor Regis Town Mayor statement on the death of Her Majesty The Queen

The Town Mayor of Bognor Regis, Councillor John Barrett, has said that it was with profound sadness that Bognor Regis Town Council learnt of the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

On behalf of the Town Council and residents of the town, Cllr John Barrett, Town Mayor of Bognor Regis, offered his sincerest condolences to the royal family at this sad time.

Residents of Bognor Regis are being invited to pay their respects in a number of different ways.

The Council has invited residents to share their condolences with the royal family at this time by signing a Book of Condolence at the Town Hall in Bognor Regis.

The Town Hall will be open and the Book of Condolence will be able to be signed during the building's opening times.

Residents can also pay tribute to Her Majesty by signing the Buckingham Palace, online Book of Condolence (www.royal.uk), and by sending a letter or card to the Town Council.

Flags at the Council's buildings are flying at half mast as a sign of respect to Her Majesty and the royal family.

Residents have also been asked, if they wish, to lay flowers at this sad time at the War Memorial outside of Bognor Regis Town Hall.

The Council has urged people to please be respectful of The Queen's wishes that these should not be wrapped in cellophane and ribbon so that they may be disposed of and composted appropriately.

It also said that church services will take place throughout the district, with information about this being available from local faith groups.
