Chagos Islanders in Crawley still have no home

(C) V2 Radio 2024

33 Chagos Islanders remain at a Crawley community centre, four weeks following the council's eviction notice.

This situation arose after 70 individuals arrived at Gatwick Airport from Mauritius last month.

Crawley Borough Council has expressed its inability to provide further assistance due to an existing housing emergency.

Two years prior, the government initiated a British citizenship pathway for those of Chagossian descent.
