Charles Dickens Items up for Auction in Chichester

A pocket watch that was once owned by Charles Dickens is going up for auction in Chichester later.

The watch dates back to 1836 – Another item a desk set both come from the famous writer’s descendants.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The lots will come up for sale at Stride and Son’s on Wednesday the 6th of March 2024

Barnaby Chiari of Stride & Son Auctioneers says: "Both items are of national importance. The watch would appear to be unprecedented in terms of historical Dickens memorabilia, both as a talisman of the author’s early literary career, and a unique object, the like of which we can find no comparison."
