Cancer early detection rates in Sussex have reached their highest level ever, according to recent NHS data.
The data, which covers 13 common cancers, including breast, prostate, and lung cancer, reveals an increase in the number of patients diagnosed at stages one or two, where treatment is more effective.
Between August 2023 and July 2024, 59.9% of cancer cases in Sussex were detected early, a 2.1 percentage point increase from pre-pandemic levels.
This improvement represents approximately 800 additional patients diagnosed early, beating the national early detection rate of 58.7%.
