Free music lessons in West Sussex

'Learn to Play' event is coming to Bognor Regis - Free music lessons for new and aspiring musicians

Next month West Sussex is set to be involved in a music event set up by UK charity Music for All.

Over two days starting on the 8th October 'Learn to Play' will be encouraging residents to start playing instruments.

The charity is supported by by musicians such as Jools Holland, Snow Patrol, Jamie Cullum, Little Simz, Skunk Anansie and Enter Shikari.

The event is open to all, skill and ability is not a factor, people who have never played an instrument before are encouraged to get involved.

Guests will be offered a chance to take part in free music lessons, to introduce people into music and encourage the next generation of musicians of all ages and abilities.

Recent reports have shown that music has been crucial for many people during the recent pandemic with more than 155 million albums bought or streamed in 2020 and one million adults taking up an instrument - helping people cope with isolation

Data from the University College of London suggests that people who spent 30 minutes or more each day during the pandemic on arts activities such as listening to music have lower reported rates of depression and anxiety and greater life satisfaction

To take part in Learn to Play you will need to register through the Learn to Play website.

Patron Jools Holland supports the Learn to Play event – “Music has the power to change lives – and that’s why we run the Learn to Play event”
