Grandfather rows Atlantic for hospice

A grandfather from Pulborough will spend Christmas rowing the Atlantic - to raise money for a children's hospice in Arundel.

David Coles, who has sailed the Atlantic before, set off on his 3 thousand-mile journey from Tenerife on Sunday.

He will be accompanied by a 10-man crew in a very small rowing boat for 45 days until he reaches Antigua.

The crew will be rowing 3 hours on, 3 hours off, 24 hours a day. They also have to take their supplies, which include 30 gallons of water, solar water makers, and 4 thousand meals, with them.

The money raised will go to Chestnut Tree House.
