Hampshire Police remind us to keep fireworks away from livestock

As Bonfire Night draws near, Hampshire police urge residents to keep fireworks away from livestock.

They stress that misuse can cause serious distress and harm to animals, and those who set off fireworks irresponsibly could also face prosecution.

The legislation identifies an offence if a person’s act, or failure to act, causes unnecessary suffering to an animal. You can read more about the legislation here: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/45/section/4

Hampshire Police say everyone should be able to enjoy fireworks safely, but be aware of your surroundings and the impact this could have, particularly on livestock. You could find yourself breaking the law if your actions are careless.
