Littlehampton house sets fire after being struck by lightning during thunderstorm

Three fire crews attended the scene

A Littlehampton house set fire last night after being hit by lightning during a thunderstorm.

Crews were called to a home on The Estuary at 10:37pm last night, where smoke was spotted rising from the bungalow's loft. Firefighters from Littlehampton, East Preston and Worthing attended the incident where they  remained for just under 3 hours.

The fire follows the Met Office's yellow weather warning for thunderstorms which remained in place until 6am this morning. There are currently no further alerts in place for this week.
