The seaside team look to raise £40,000 to replace their current stand which has fallen into disrepair.

Littlehampton Town FC are calling for donations as they aim to raise £40,000 to replace their main stand.

Supporters are currently using the wooden stand that has been at The Sportsfield for over 100 years, however over time it has become damaged and fallen into a state of disrepair.

The funds raised will allow the seaside football club to demolish the current stand, hire professionals to remove the asbestos roof, and construct a new stand.

The new steel structure will seat 304 fans and replace the wooden bench style seating that is currently at the pitch, providing supporters with a better experience and unobstructed view of the games.

The improvements will also include creating a better area for wheelchair users, enabling a greater view of the pitch for disabled fans.

The club, which was founded in 1896, is run by volunteers and for the last 12-months has been working hard on improving the ground.

The construction of a new stand is the next stage of their renovation works, having already built new changing rooms, kiosk, floodlights, and fencing.

A spokesperson from the club explained how important these improvements are for the local area:

“The football club is truly at the centre of the local community and its aging infrastructure is in need of modernising to secure its long-term future.

The club has a lot of affection from many generations of Littlehampton residents and this new project will celebrate that fact.”

The club have urged that a grant would cover costs, however help is needed from private donations and local businesses.

The Crowdfunder site has raised £3,105 so far.
