Local Election Results For West Sussex

Sussex mirrors the national picture with the Lib Dems seeing a ground swell of support.

Chichester

The Liberal Democrats have gained Chichester 

They now have 25 seats with the Conservatives on 5. There were no labour wins and seats for 2 Greens and 4 independents. 

Arun 

There was no change, with no party having a majority.

The Conservatives lost one seat and have  20 now, the Lib Dems lost 8 seats and have 14.

Labour gained 7 and Green gained 4.

Worthing

Labour today retained control of Worthing Borough Council after the local elections.

Of the 12 seats available, Labour took 9, the Conservatives took 2 and the Greens took 1.

The Council is now made up of 24 Labour members, 11 Conservatives, 1 Liberal Democrat and 1 Green.

Prior to the election, the Council was represented by 22 Labour, 13 Conservative and 1 Liberal Democrat councillor. There was one vacant seat, after the resignation because of ill-health of Cllr Jim Deen in March.

Horsham

The Lib Dems have gained the council and in another huge win they now have  15 seats leaving the Conservatives with 11. 

The Greens also made inroads here, now holding 8 seats, that's up 6.

Crawley 

Labour has held Crawley taking one more seat from the Conservatives.

Elsewhere - Labour took Brighton and Hove with a landslide victory they gained 12 seats leaving the former leaders the Greens with 4
