Meet the 17-year-old gearing up for her Goodwood supercar track day fundraiser

Jess Webb has already raised £32,000 to help families with Huntingdon's Disease - her last track day raised £10,000 alone

A 17-year-old who's already raised £32,000 to support families with Huntingdon's Disease is gearing up for her track day fundraiser this weekend.

Jess Webb became determined to raise awareness about the disease after her family members suffered with it - and has lined up 28 cars for the free event at Goodwood this Saturday.

She told V2 Radio: "This is a completely free family day out. Entry is from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM and there's gonna be lots of supercars and hypercars speeding around Goodwood motor circuit.

"There will also be a chance to see the cars up close in the track parade. There will also be slot car racing for a small donation and there's going to be lots to see. It's going to be a good day out."

At the last Track Day event, she collected over £10,000 for the Huntingdon's Disease Association. In respect for her ongoing work, she was even made a Volunteer Ambassador for them, something Jess says "means a lot".

“I’ve been fundraising for a long time and, as soon as they  picked up on my age and how much I was raising, they decided to make me a volunteer ambassador, which is just a really nice addition to show their appreciation for everything I've done for them."

Jess has already set herself the goal to raise £50,000 by the time she turns 18. Speaking about her motivation, she shared how Huntingdon's has affected her family for almost her whole life, even losing her grandad to the disease at the age of three.

"I also lost my uncle a few years ago.

"Huntington's disease is a progressive brain disorder caused by faulty gene. It's a hereditary disease so if a parent has it, you have 50% chance of inheriting it."

Jess also wants to raise awareness about Huntingdon's because "it's a rare disease" which many haven't heard of - despite it affecting "quite a lot of people".

“Overtime the person with Huntingdon’s experiences changes in movements, behaviour and then wellbeing so it affects the individual massively, as well as the whole family.

"Also some of my events, I just raise for the local branch which helps in advising and supporting families affected and giving them some days out, which I think is really important especially for families with Huntingdon's."
