New contactless payment systems at Sussex railway stations

Govia Thameslink aims to streamline and enhance the convenience of train travel

Contactless payment systems are set to roll out at 11 additional train stations across Surrey and Sussex by 2025, thanks to a nearly £27 million boost from the Department for Transport.

This upgrade, part of the Govia Thameslink Railway network, aims to streamline and enhance the convenience of train travel.

Starting this month, eight stations in Surrey and six in Kent will also offer contactless payment options. However, passengers will still have the choice to use pre-paid barcode and paper tickets if they prefer.

The Department for Transport says this initiative will make train journeys simpler and more flexible for passengers.
