The boat became stranded after the wind dropped

Shoreham RNLI have revealed their 6 hour mission to rescue four people, including two children with sea sickness, from a boat stranded on the Bognor coast.

The incident, which happened on Monday the 29th of August, was the result of a 10-metre yacht suffering from engine failure. The yacht fell into difficulty after the wind dropped, meaning it was difficult for it to sail any further.

RNLI crew attended the scene on an all-weather lifeboat before leading the boat to safety in Worthing. The yacht has now been towed to Shoreham Harbour.

Supporters of the charity flocked to the team's social media comments to thank them for their important work. The Shoreham lifeboat crew is made up of volunteers that are on call 24 hours a day, all year round.
