Jamie Boyle from 'The Dog and Duck' pub and customer and friend Andrew Greig, are fundraising for lifesaving equipment for the town.
Jamie explained sadly they had a serious emergency incident outside the pub on Sunday 12th March. A gentleman was walking past and unfortunately suffered a fatal heart attack. Medically trained customers were in that day. They tried their hardest to save him.
The emergency services arrived in very quick time, but unfortunately were unable to revive the gentleman.
He said: "This unfortunate incident has made us realise that their is a need for a defibrillator in our area of the town centre.
"We are now raising the funds to have one installed on the outside of The Dog & Duck permanently. With the code available in all surrounding businesses & registered with the correct services.
Andrew explained: " As a customer , I suggested running alongside him and that's where we joined forces and are now running together to raise as much as possible for Defib units for the town.
"Jamie has spoken to coastal coffee nearby Butlins day entrance and they are willing to have a unit on their building as well."
The pair are already set to go over their initial target to raise £1750 and plan to continue fundraising.
