Storm Darragh is predicted to cause wind speeds of 60mph across coastal areas in the South.
The Met Office has a yellow weather warning for gusty conditions that will begin at 3 p.m. today and last until 6 a.m. on Sunday.
The forecaster says there is a risk of danger to life, power cuts, building damage and travel disruptions over the coming days.
BEFORE THE STORM:

- Check for Hazards: Inspect your property for loose roof tiles, broken branches, or unstable structures.
- Plan Ahead: Avoid non-essential travel, and check weather updates and warnings from trusted sources.
DURING THE STORM:
- Stay Indoors: Avoid going outside unless absolutely necessary. Keep away from windows and doors.
- Drive Safely: If you must drive, reduce speed, grip the wheel firmly, and be cautious of high-sided vehicles, bridges, and open roads
- Avoid Hazardous Areas: Steer clear of coastal paths, cliffs, wooded areas, and places with loose debris
- Stay Updated: Keep a battery-powered radio or fully charged phone for updates if power goes out.
SOUTH WEATHER FROM THE MET OFFICE:
Friday: Chilly and dry for much of Friday, with lengthy sunny spells. Cloud increasing and wind strengthening later in the afternoon, with rain arriving for the evening. Maximum temperature 7 deg C (44.6 deg F).
Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Very wet and windy Saturday, with gales likely. Showery Sunday, with winds gradually easing a little. Becoming mostly dry during Monday but still windy, cloudy and feeling colder.
