The Body Shop is closing its headquarters in Littlehampton and relocating to Brighton.
It was founded by Dame Anita Roddick in the early 1970s - opening her first store in Brighton in 1976.
The Body Shop has thanked the people of Littlehampton for all their love and support over the years.
The Body Shop’s connection to Littlehampton began in the late 1970s when it established its headquarters in the West Sussex town, just a few years after Dame Anita Roddick opened the first store in Brighton in 1976. Littlehampton quickly became the operational heart of The Body Shop as it grew from a single storefront to a globally recognized brand. Here, Roddick and her team crafted the company’s pioneering campaigns for social and environmental issues, including anti-animal testing and fair trade.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Littlehampton served as a hub for The Body Shop’s expansion, with its warehouses, distribution centers, and corporate offices based there. It was from Littlehampton that the company launched impactful campaigns, embodying Roddick’s vision of using business as a force for good.
