The last of ten new Blue Plaques in Bognor Regis town has been given to a woman for saving over 30 peoples lives in the late 1890's and early 1900.
Mary Wheatland has been honoured by the Bognor Regis Heritage and Arts Partnership with a new Blue Plaque.
The plaque is the is the last of ten that have been put up around the town.
Blue Plaques in the area celebrate the lives of people who have had a beneficial impact on the town.
Mary Wheatland deserved the Blue Plaque after saving over 30 peoples lives from drowning in the late 1890's and early 1900's
For her bravery Wheatland was previously given a Testimonial on Vellum by the Royal Humane Society in 1879 along with a Bronze medal in 1903.
The unveiling ceremony was introduced by the Mayor of Bognor Regis, Cllr John Barrett.
Many family members and descendants of Mary Wheatland attended the unveiling.
It was wonderful to see crowds of local people gather to celebrating the life of one of great and bravest characters of Bognor Regis.
