There could be a new gin bar opening in Worthing

Pending the outcome of the councils decision a new gin bar could be coming to West Sussex.

The Gin Tub a gin bar currently based in Hove is seeking an alcohol license to start up business in West Sussex.

The brand is hoping to open a venue in Worthing pending the outcome of the councils decision.

The company has previously been rejected for an alcohol licence by Sussex Police and Worthing Pubwatch.

Objection to the license was due to to The Gin Tub requesting to open and serve alcohol between 11am and 1am Mondays to Wednesdays, and 11am to 2am Thursdays to Sundays, and play live music between 6pm and 11pm, seven days a week.

However the organisations are currently reconsidering the venues alcohol license.

Despite this five local residents are objecting and are against the license being renewed after The Gin Tub’s Hove venue had its licence revoked in 2019 after cocaine was found in the toilets.

Some of the residents objecting also the that the requested opening hours and an alcohol license is not what the area needs and would cause issues with those living nearby.

If the license is approved by the council The Gin Tub plans to open at 10 High Street – an old church building that was converted into a public house more than 30 years ago.
