Warm spaces are opening across Adur and Worthing, providing residents with free places to stay warm this winter.
For the third consecutive year, Adur & Worthing Councils are funding community groups and non-profits to establish these spaces and cover operational costs.
These venues offer relief from high energy bills and social isolation, featuring group activities and support for cost-of-living issues.
Cllr Lee Cowen, Adur's cabinet member for housing and citizen services, said:
“We're really glad to have been able to help community groups and organisations to provide warm spaces once again. The warm spaces are located within our communities so that people won't have to travel too far and all provide a friendly and welcoming environment that is open to everyone.”
Cllr Ödül Bozkurt, Worthing's cabinet member for housing and citizen services, said:
“We know that with winter and the arrival of cold weather many residents will feel the bite of rising energy prices, struggle to keep their homes warm or worry about how much it will cost. They can find a warm welcome in these spaces, an opportunity to connect with other community members and, in some locations, also volunteers to provide advice for help with cost of living.”
