Well known local radio newsreader loses battle with cancer

Much loved radio journalist Sharon Plummer ( nee Williams) passed away on Saturday 21st October.

Well-known local newsreader, Sharon Plummer has died at the age of 39

Tributes have been flooding social media platforms over the weekend after the sad news that former Sussex radio newsreader, Sharon Plummer has died at the age of 39.

Sharon Plummer (nee Williams) was given the devastating diagnosis in September of Stage 4 cancer, just 9 months after giving birth to her daughter Jemima. 

Sharon  was well-known in local radio here in Sussex, having covered all manner of news stories as a journalist  for Spirit FM in Chichester,  Sovereign Radio in Eastbourne, Arrow FM in Hastings and Splash FM in Worthing (all now More Radio). More recently, she’s recorded news, voiceovers and audio books for numerous clients across the country from her home studio in Lincolnshire.

 

Her former colleagues and friends, Joanna Flay and Laura Raymond have set up a fundraising appeal on Go Fund Me to help raise money for Sharon's family, which currently stands at £4197.  

Laura said: "Sharon was much loved and respected by colleagues across the industry including many of us who are now here at V2 Radio.

"We will remember her for not only her work ethic and wit but her beautiful smile. She will be sadly missed.

"Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time."
