Buildings in Sussex could be transformed into "warm banks" to help locals struggling to heat their homes.
Rising household bills have led to a proposal for halls, libraries and other public buildings to become hubs with electric blankets and hot meals for residents who can't afford to keep their houses warm.
Both Horsham and West Sussex County Council have revealed that the idea of having "warm banks" is currently being discussed, whilst Brighton & Hove City Council say the concept is one of many and joins others such as beginning an "insulation programme" for council houses.
Worthing Borough Council's Labour leader Dr Rebecca Cooper said that they were also looking into ways people could be kept warm outside of warm bank opening hours.
Cooper said that they are looking into "how to heat the person, and not the home".
