West Wittering beach has warned visitors to be "mindful" as their lifeguard service comes to an end for the year.
Beach representatives have warned guests that "the sea can catch you out whether you're local or not", reminding potential visitors that "the tide comes in very quickly".
Speaking in a social media post, they advised people not to "cross onto any exposed sandbanks."
Addressing swimmers, the post continued: "If you enter the water - stay within your depth and know your capabilities. Always inform someone of your plans."
They also advised parents to "keep a close eye" on their children and told dog owners to be "responsible" as the end of the summer season means pets are now able to enjoy the entire stretch of the shore.
