Club chairman Mark Sanderson says its not the first time an attack's happened

Worthing United FC says its at its "wits end" after vandals threw grass and rocks onto their playing field and destroyed their dug outs.

The club shared images of the dugout wall knocked to the ground in a tweet following the attack, which chairman Mark Sanderson says happened "sometime between Sunday evening and Tuesday late afternoon".

Describing in the attack, he added that somebody  "got into the football ground which is secure and fully enclosed", then "knocked over a brick wall that sits within our players dug-outs" before throwing "various rocks and stones" and "broken glass" onto the grass surface.

Sanderson adds its "not the first time" an attack like this has happened, something which he calls "extremely upsetting and extremely disappointing". Previous attacks can be traced as far back as 2009.

But, despite having been cleaning up the mess on his "hands and knees," Sanderson remains positive nonetheless: "Luckily its the off-season so we don't start playing until the beginning of August. We've got plenty of time to sort things out."

He adds there's no need for a fundraiser as the "financial cost is minimal". The club has also had offers of help to clear up from locals.
